slow going

As soon as the weather turned cold, my enthusiasm for working outside faded to nothing. I did, however, manage to order the wood and plasterboard for the partition walls. I suppose I could call out the electricians now, but that sounds a bit like spending money. Which, admittedly, I normally enjoy. But this is big money so it’s not quite so much fun.

the DIY season

So, not content with a partition wall, I will now attempt the rather complex “darkroom/studio” manuever, Luckily, most of it exists in the form of my rather groovy outbuilding.

studio-to-be

I’ve started to clear out the rubbish, planned the works and called out the electrician. It’s all go!

Nearly forgot. Here’s the DIY project almost finished. Those pesky detail trimmings and mouldings will be another year or two, no doubt!

during

A day’s work…

during

I realise it doesn’t look like much, but this is the first partition wall we’ve done, so there’s a lot of research and measuring involved. Last thing I need is a wobbly, wonky wall, right? Next up is moving the light switch and nailing in the uprights and ‘noggins’. Then there’s the top bit along the front, plasterboard and plaster. The doors won’t arrive until next week, so it’ll just be an open plan laundry cupboard until then. Might be a good time to order the tumble dryer. Yay! Warm clothes - I can’t wait!

laundry ‘room’ to be

DIY project for the winter is a laundry cupboard in the kitchen. I’ve been living with this monstrosity for almost 10 years so I’m looking forward to this one. It should be fairly simple (famous last words), with just a stud partition wall and some sliding doors to install.

done deck!

The deck is finally a deck! It’s got lights and edges and everything. It’s also a handy way of keeping the bunnies in check.

deck the walls

Remember the deck we started almost exactly a year ago? This is its current state:

Nearly ready for the deck board, a bit more render and some lighting. Come on, summer!
