minty mate

Today we went to pick up our new family member, 3-month-old Minty, a Timneh African Grey parrot. He’s a charming, sweet bird and seems to have settled right in. He was hand-reared in Attleborough, about an hour’s drive from here by a very nice breeder. He was one of two babies born at the end of May and we’ve gone to see him several times since he was born. He’s come a long way since then and is a handsome lad now. Timneh’s are supposed to be amongst the best talking parrots, so we’re hoping to teach him something interesting (but not rude, of course). I’m working on barnyard animal sounds to start with. Should have a chicken sound down by the end of the week, I reckon. Minty, not me…
