people are funny
Back to the whole Kilroy thing, I’ve noticed that a big swathe of people are defending Kilroy-Silk under the pretense of freedom of speech and while it doesn’t surprise me (as many have pointed out, his is a populist view, aka, the idiot’s view), it does annoy me slightly.
No one has suggested that Kilroy-Silk is not entitled to his opinions spoken in whatever forum will print his vitriol (within the bounds of legality, of course), however, I do believe that he is not the kind of person I, as a license-payer, would like working at the BBC. I keep coming back to the Angus Deaton issue. If the Beeb could sack him because they did not like his extra-curricular activities, then surely they can suspend Kilroy’s contract for the same reason?
[Edit - I’ve got an idea. The Beeb needs to do a new programme, What the Arabs did for us and make Kilroy-Silk present it. Only then might I consider letting him keep his talk-show slot.
Then again, possibly not.]
