tables and results
Speaking of school children, the UK’s secondary school league tables have come out and I’m pleased to see my daughter’s community college* near the top in GCSE results in our region. Considering that all seven of the top schools are selective private schools, that’s quite good going I expect.
(*Translation: “Community College” in the UK refers to schools that in the US would be called public high schools. Interestingly, the year we would have described as our “senior year” is called “6th Form” here and often takes place at a different school altogether, which is why my daughter’s school does not show up in the A-level results tables - they have no 6th Form.)
